An International BCM Glossary: The Quest for a Common Lexicon

Big news! DRI International has begun work on a new, international BCM glossary.

“The project is being led by an all-volunteer group of industry leaders representing both private and public sectors” says DRI Director of Global Operations Chloe Demrovsky. ” The goal is to reduce inconsistencies by endorsing a key definition of each term from the variety of sources available. Everything will be sourced to the standard, regulation, or knowledge body where it is cited.”

Well, as someone who has covered this industry for almost 20 years, I say “Bravo!” And for those of you who may doubt the need for a common set of definitions, I offer the video link above. It’s a clip from one of my favorite movies of all time (mock rockumentary “This Is Spinal Tap”).

Noise will be made about this announcement, for sure. Let me know what you think. I’ll share your comments, and I’ll crank the volume on this discussion up to 11! If you didn’t get the 11 reference, watch the video. If you did, and you’re chuckling already, watch it again. It just never gets old.
