The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is getting ahead of flu season with a new resource kit, as part of its National Influenza Vaccination Disparities Partnership initiative.
Described as a “national multi-sector campaign,” the goal is to promote the importance of flu vaccination among underserved populations.
For instance: Only 33.8% of Hispanic adults have ever received a flu vaccination, and 35.6% of African Americans — two populations at increased risk of developing serious flu-related complications.
To raise awareness, the kit provides information on:
- promoting flu vaccinations in the community
- learning the facts about influenza — and vaccinations
- sharing success stories
- participating in National Influenza Vaccination Week (Dec. 7-14).
- and more.
