There’s a severe weather event going on this week that you probably haven’t thought to prepare for: a second SHARKNADO!
Yes, SyFy’s incredibly popular guilty pleasure has gotten a sequel, once again causing viewers to cautiously ask, “Wait, a tornado made of sharks couldn’t ACTUALLY happen — could it?”
Well…possibly? While your odds of having to fight off flying sharks are pretty slim (so you can go ahead and put down that chainsaw), there are reports of similar instances have happened in the past, as groups of animals get sucked up into tornadoes, such as:
- Fish — as recently as 2012 in Agusan del Sur, when dozens of 3-inch-long mudfish fell from the sky
- Frogs — 2005 in the Serbian town of Odzaci, where the frogs reportedly survived and hopped along their merry way
- Worms — “clumps” of them fell on Jennings, Louisiana in 2007, and perhaps most terrifying of all…
- Alligators — if this 1897 report is to be believed, at least!
