Craving great barbecue? Texas is the place! San Antonio in particular has some contenders for best BBQ in the state, including these restaurants, shacks and trucks recommended by USA Today:
- Big Bib BBQ — A popular local favorite, with meat ordered by the pound (though yes, they have smaller plates, for those who don’t want to injure themselves). The peach cobbler comes highly recommended!
- Two Bros. BBQ Market — Chef Jason Dady is considered a pioneer in San Antonio’s culinary culture. Two Bros. was also featured when Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations came to town.
- The Granary ‘Cue and Brew — Located by the Pearl Brewery, this popular spot cooks up Central Texas barbecue, as well as flavors from around the world. And it’s located by the Riverwalk, so you can hop on a boat with your takeout!
- Smoke Shack — Expanding from a popular food truck, this Alamo Heights restaurant sits across the street from Brackeridge Park. Locals recommend the Frito Pie.
